【Pokémon Sleep】Is Amoonguss Worth Raising? Best Ingredient Spreads and Evaluation

Amoonguss is a Poison-type Ingredient specialist added to Pokémon Sleep on October 5, 2026.

Its biggest strength is its Tasty Mushroom production. Under the same comparison conditions, Amoonguss can outperform several existing Mushroom specialists in raw daily output, making it a strong option for players who have not yet raised a dedicated Mushroom farmer.

However, if you already have a strong Quagsire, Gengar, or another reliable Mushroom specialist, there is no need to immediately replace them with Amoonguss.

In this guide, we will look at Amoonguss’s ingredient spreads, compare its Mushroom production with existing options, and explain which Foongus are worth raising.

Note: This article uses data available shortly after release from RaenonX Pokémon Sleep tools. Some values may be adjusted as more data becomes available.

Conclusion: Amoonguss Is a Strong Choice If You Still Need a Mushroom Specialist

Amoonguss is a very good Pokémon to raise if you do not already have a reliable Tasty Mushroom specialist.

Its AAA ingredient spread is especially strong. At Lv. 60, under the same conditions with only Ingredient Finder M added, Amoonguss produces more Tasty Mushrooms per day than several established Mushroom specialists.

That said, Amoonguss is not an automatic upgrade for everyone.

Quagsire, Gengar, Spiritomb, and other Pokémon can already fill the Mushroom role well. If you have invested heavily in one of them and are not struggling with Mushroom supply, starting over with Amoonguss may not be the best use of your resources.

Amoonguss is also a Poison-type Pokémon, which gives it additional value for expanding your type coverage in EX research areas.

Amoonguss Basic Information

Here are Amoonguss’s basic stats.

CategoryAmoonguss
SpecialtyIngredients
TypePoison
Main SkillEnergy Charge S
Base Helping Time3,500 sec
Carry Limit19
Ingredient RateAbout 20.4%
Main Skill Trigger RateAbout 4.7%

Amoonguss does not have an especially high Ingredient Rate compared with every other Ingredient specialist.

Because of this, Sub Skills such as Ingredient Finder M are important if you want Amoonguss to perform consistently as an Ingredient farmer.

We will cover recommended Sub Skills and Natures in more detail later in this guide.

How to Evolve Foongus Into Amoonguss

Foongus can evolve into Amoonguss once it reaches Lv. 29.

You also need 40 Foongus Candy to evolve it.

Because Ingredient specialists depend heavily on their ingredient spread, make sure you check the Lv. 30 and Lv. 60 ingredients before investing heavily in a Foongus.

Amoonguss Ingredient Options

Amoonguss can gather the following Ingredients:

  • A: Tasty Mushroom
  • B: Fancy Egg
  • C: Snoozy Tomato

In most cases, Tasty Mushroom is the main reason to raise Amoonguss.

Fancy Egg and Snoozy Tomato are both useful, but they also have strong competing specialists. Blissey and other Pokémon are strong Egg options, while Victreebel and Luxray are already excellent Tomato specialists.

For that reason, players starting a new Amoonguss hunt will usually get the most value from focusing on a Mushroom-oriented spread.

AAA: The Best General Option for Tasty Mushrooms

AAA is the most straightforward and generally recommended spread for Amoonguss.

With Tasty Mushroom in all three Ingredient slots, Amoonguss fully takes advantage of its strong Mushroom production.

In our comparison with other Mushroom specialists, AAA Amoonguss performs extremely well under equal conditions.

If you do not currently have a dedicated Mushroom specialist and find a strong AAA Foongus, it is worth serious consideration for long-term investment.

ABB: A Good Option If You Also Need Fancy Eggs

ABB gives Amoonguss Fancy Egg at both Lv. 30 and Lv. 60.

At Lv. 60 with Ingredient Finder M only, Amoonguss produces about 97.8 Fancy Eggs per day under the comparison conditions used here.

For reference:

PokémonFancy Eggs per Day
BlisseyAbout 106.1
DelibirdAbout 103.9
AmoongussAbout 97.8
AbomasnowAbout 90.5

Amoonguss is not the strongest dedicated Egg farmer, but its Egg production is still high enough to be useful.

If you are short on Fancy Eggs and find a strong ABB Foongus, it can still be a practical investment.

However, if your main goal is to take advantage of Amoonguss’s unique strength, AAA remains the more natural target.

AAC: Useful for Mushroom and Tomato Recipes

AAC keeps Tasty Mushroom through Lv. 30 and adds Snoozy Tomato at Lv. 60.

This spread can work well for recipes that use both Mushrooms and Tomatoes.

One notable example is Hidden Power Perk-Up Stew, which requires both ingredients. AAC Amoonguss can help cover two of its required ingredients with a single team slot.

“Spore Mushroom” Salad also uses both Tasty Mushroom and Snoozy Tomato, so the spread has some recipe synergy.

However, Snoozy Tomato production is not where Amoonguss excels compared with dedicated Tomato specialists such as Victreebel and Luxray.

For that reason, AAC is not a spread I would specifically hunt for just to support one or two recipes.

If you happen to find a strong AAC Foongus and its ingredient mix fits your current team, it can still be useful.

ABC: Flexible, but Usually Lower Priority

ABC gives Amoonguss access to Tasty Mushroom, Fancy Egg, and Snoozy Tomato.

This can be convenient if you want one Pokémon to gather several different ingredients, but the role becomes less focused.

Ingredient specialists are usually easier to use when they have a clear job, especially when you need a stable supply of one specific ingredient.

Since Mushroom production is Amoonguss’s biggest advantage, more focused spreads such as AAA will usually be easier to recommend.

How Good Is Amoonguss as a Tasty Mushroom Farmer?

The biggest reason to consider Amoonguss is its Mushroom production.

To compare it with existing options, we used the following conditions in RaenonX Pokémon Sleep tools:

  • Lv. 60
  • Mushroom-focused ingredient spread
  • Ingredient Finder M only
  • No additional Sub Skill or Nature bonuses

The results were as follows.

PokémonTasty Mushrooms per Day
AmoongussAbout 80.53
SpiritombAbout 78.16
QuagsireAbout 77.25
CrustleAbout 75.23
GengarAbout 72.23

Under these conditions, Amoonguss had the highest raw Tasty Mushroom production of the group.

Its Base Helping Time is not exceptionally fast, but its overall production is still strong enough to put it at the top of this direct comparison.

This makes Amoonguss a very attractive option for players who have not yet invested in a Mushroom specialist.

Spiritomb Cannot Be Judged by Mushroom Output Alone

Amoonguss produces more Mushrooms than Spiritomb in the raw comparison above, but that does not mean Amoonguss is simply better overall.

Spiritomb has Helping Support S as its Main Skill.

Helping Support S advances the help of team members, including Spiritomb itself, which can indirectly increase overall team production.

Because of that, Spiritomb provides value that is not fully represented by its personal Mushroom count alone.

Amoonguss is excellent if you are comparing pure Mushroom production, but Spiritomb should be evaluated with its team support value in mind as well.

Should You Raise Amoonguss If You Already Have Quagsire or Gengar?

Amoonguss is an excellent Tasty Mushroom farmer, but that does not mean every player should immediately replace their current Mushroom specialist.

If you already have a well-trained Quagsire, Gengar, or another strong Mushroom farmer, the difference in raw production may not be large enough to justify starting over from scratch.

Raising a new Pokémon also costs Candy and Dream Shards, so your existing investment matters when deciding whether Amoonguss is worth prioritizing.

You Do Not Need to Replace an Already Strong Mushroom Farmer

If your current team already supplies enough Tasty Mushrooms, Amoonguss is not an urgent investment.

In my own case, I already have both Quagsire and an ABB Gengar that I use for Mushrooms, so Amoonguss is not a particularly high priority for me right now.

This is an important distinction between “Amoonguss is strong” and “Amoonguss is worth raising for your account.”

Its raw Mushroom production is excellent, but an already developed Pokémon may still be the better practical choice.

Amoonguss Is More Attractive for Newer Players

The recommendation changes significantly if you have not raised a dedicated Mushroom farmer yet.

Under equal ingredient spread, Sub Skill, and Nature conditions, Amoonguss has excellent raw Mushroom production. If you catch a strong AAA Foongus before investing heavily in another Mushroom specialist, it can become your long-term Mushroom option.

This makes Amoonguss especially appealing to newer players who have not accumulated large amounts of Candy for older alternatives such as Quagsire or Gengar.

Quagsire Has an Advantage in Candy Availability

Quagsire remains a particularly strong competitor because Wooper and Paldean Wooper share Wooper Candy.

Since encounters with either line can contribute toward the same Candy supply, players may find themselves accumulating Wooper Candy relatively easily over time.

Long-time players may already have enough Candy and investment in Quagsire to make switching to Amoonguss unnecessary.

This does not make Amoonguss weaker. It simply means that progression resources should be considered alongside raw ingredient output.

Poison-Type Coverage Gives Amoonguss Additional Value for EX Research Areas

Amoonguss can still be worth raising even if you already have another Mushroom specialist.

Its Poison typing gives it a different role from existing Mushroom options and can expand your coverage for EX research areas.

This is especially useful if:

  • Your Mushroom supply is already covered
  • You do not have a strong Poison-type Ingredient specialist
  • You want more type options for EX research areas

In that situation, a strong Foongus can still be worth keeping and eventually raising rather than being judged only by whether it replaces your current Mushroom farmer.

What to Look for When Choosing a Foongus to Raise

For an Ingredient specialist like Amoonguss, the ingredient spread comes first.

Getting the exact ingredient spread you want is already difficult. If you also demand perfect Sub Skills and the perfect Nature, the odds of finding an ideal Pokémon become extremely low.

For popular spreads such as AAA, the chance of getting the desired ingredient combination itself is commonly considered to be low.

Because of this, it is better to establish a realistic investment threshold rather than waiting indefinitely for a perfect Foongus.

Check the Ingredient Spread Before Sub Skills and Nature

If you want Amoonguss primarily for Tasty Mushrooms, look for AAA first.

ABB can be useful if you also need Fancy Eggs, while AAC may work for teams that benefit from both Mushrooms and Tomatoes.

However, even excellent Sub Skills cannot completely fix an ingredient spread that does not match the role you want.

A practical order for evaluating Foongus is:

  1. Ingredient spread
  2. Sub Skills
  3. Nature

For most players specifically looking for a Mushroom specialist, AAA should be the main target.

Ingredient Finder M Is the Main Sub Skill to Look For

My first benchmark is a Foongus with the ingredient spread I want and Ingredient Finder M within its useful early Sub Skill slots.

Amoonguss has an Ingredient Rate of around 20%, which is not exceptionally high among Ingredient specialists.

Because of that, Ingredient Finder M is particularly valuable for improving its consistency as an Ingredient farmer.

Ideally, I would want Ingredient Finder M at Lv. 10, Lv. 25, or Lv. 50 rather than relying on a very late unlock.

Ingredient Finder M Plus One Additional Positive Trait Is a Good Target

Ingredient Finder M alone is enough to make a Foongus worth considering, but I would personally prefer at least one additional useful trait.

Good examples include:

  • Ingredient Finder S
  • Helping Speed M
  • Helping Speed S
  • An Ingredient Finding ↑ Nature
  • A Speed of Help ↑ Nature

For example, I would be happy to raise combinations such as:

  • AAA + Ingredient Finder M + Ingredient Finder S
  • AAA + Ingredient Finder M + Helping Speed M
  • AAA + Ingredient Finder M + an Ingredient Finding ↑ Nature
  • AAA + Ingredient Finder M + a Speed of Help ↑ Nature

You do not need every one of these bonuses.

Because matching the ingredient spread is already difficult, “desired ingredient spread + Ingredient Finder M + one additional positive trait” is a realistic and strong investment benchmark.

Prioritize the Lv. 10, Lv. 25, and Lv. 50 Sub Skills

The order of Sub Skills matters just as much as which Sub Skills a Pokémon has.

For practical investment decisions, the Lv. 10, Lv. 25, and Lv. 50 slots are the most important.

A Foongus that gets Ingredient Finder M or Helping Speed early will contribute much sooner than one whose best Sub Skills are locked behind very high levels.

This is especially relevant for Ingredient specialists, where finding the right ingredient spread is already restrictive enough.

Skill Trigger Is Low Priority

Amoonguss has Energy Charge S as its Main Skill.

It is not a Pokémon you would normally raise specifically for Main Skill performance, so Skill Trigger S, Skill Trigger M, and Skill Level Up Sub Skills are relatively low priority.

Having one of these Sub Skills does not automatically make a Foongus bad, but they should not be prioritized over Ingredient Finder or Helping Speed bonuses.

The main goal is still to improve Amoonguss as an Ingredient farmer.

Who Should Raise Amoonguss?

Amoonguss is particularly worth considering if:

  • You do not already have a reliable Tasty Mushroom farmer
  • You catch a strong AAA Foongus
  • You want to increase your Mushroom supply
  • You want a Poison-type Ingredient specialist
  • You want broader type coverage for EX research areas

For players without an established Mushroom specialist, a strong AAA Foongus can be a very good long-term investment.

Who Can Give Amoonguss Lower Priority?

Amoonguss is less urgent if:

  • You already have a strong Quagsire
  • Gengar or another Pokémon already covers your Mushroom needs
  • You mainly need Fancy Eggs
  • You mainly need Snoozy Tomatoes

Dedicated Egg or Tomato specialists may be a better investment if those ingredients are your main concern.

Amoonguss can gather all three ingredients, but its clearest strength is still its Tasty Mushroom performance.

Final Thoughts: Amoonguss Is a Strong Mushroom Option, but Not a Mandatory Upgrade

Amoonguss is one of the strongest raw Tasty Mushroom farmers under equal comparison conditions.

AAA is the most straightforward spread to target, especially for players who do not already have a dedicated Mushroom specialist.

However, existing investment matters. If you already have a strong Quagsire, Gengar, Spiritomb, or another Pokémon handling Mushrooms well, there is little reason to replace it simply because Amoonguss has slightly higher raw output.

When evaluating Foongus, prioritize the ingredient spread first. After that, Ingredient Finder M is the main Sub Skill to look for, ideally with one additional bonus such as Ingredient Finder S, Helping Speed, or a useful Nature.

For newer players or anyone looking to expand Poison-type coverage for EX research areas, a strong Foongus is well worth considering.
